Reviews: "Harmonic freshness and an original slant" Humphrey Lyttleton (BBC Radio 4) "This album isn't for those who like to pigeon-hole their jazz but for folks who respect a continuing tradition of excellence and unfettered swing...chamber jazz at its best...a CD to be treasured and played again and again" Mike Pointon (Just Jazz magazine) "A lovely CD...really interesting and enjoyable...with that real bass sound that Peter gets" Campbell Burnap (Jazz FM) |

New acoustic trio album, just out, Eight improvised pieces based mainly on standard tunes. The music has a sparse, open and vulnerable quality. Peter Morgan leading on double bass with the legendary Don Rendell on tenor sax, flute and clarinet. Sharing drum duties are Richard Newby and Rod Brown. Recorded and produced by Ian Ritchie, saxophonist and producer for Roger Waters. In 1955 Don Rendell played the tenor sax solo on a famous Ted Heath recording of the Miles Davis tune "Cloudburst" The title tune "We Met" is based on that jazz standard and the title comes from the Jon Hendricks' words set to the original melody. |
