Week 20. My injured left thumb is repairing slowly, but I really didn't want this to be a right hand keyboard piece for the third week running. Because of my thumb I had to play this piece slowly and carefully, surprisingly the result is a slow and careful melody in a simple folk style. It's strange how this kind of music can be simple and sophisticated at the same time, obvious but also deep.
I enjoy making bas-relief images, although it seems to be out of favour these days. Wooden relief sculpture or "assemblage", often painted was popular in the early 1900's. To me it still looks modern and I love the clarity it can have, it also has a homespun quality which this week I thought echoed the music.
