Week 19. It goes without saying that I have enjoyed making the work some weeks more than others, but this week as the music formed, I got a complete emotional connection with it. It is a simple grooving repetitive piece that seemed to play itself. I really wanted to let it play and play, each time the 8 bar sequence finishes I want it again and again. I had to stop when I did because of the constraints of the project, but you can think of me playing the themes right through the night!
The image I think is quite unlike any of my previous paintings. I seem to have produced a cave painting or a piece of aboriginal art. I have always liked the other worldly symbols that painters like Kandinsky and Miro use, and of course the great David Smith used similar imagery all the time. It's probably that, or I've been watching too much Star Trek!
My other news this week is that I have received an offer to exhibit the completed project at St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square, London, early next year. I am so pleased and grateful for this wonderful opportunity. click here for more information.
